Bones may have been an attractive horse at one point. That is, if all his bones even came from the same horse. He stands at seventeen hands, though his lanky appearance makes him appear taller. There is no flesh, muscle, or organ to his frame. He quite literally just the frame. A walking skeleton, Bones is a reanimated corpse that was long since picked clean by scavengers. His bones, magically imbued with his creator's powers, are bluish in color. At night they appear translucent, allowing moonlight to filter through them.

The lack of muscle around him, allows his bones to move in ways that a natural horse would not be able to. Specifically his neck which he often cranes at horrifying angles that no real equine should be able to accomplish. Resting within the cavern of his skull is a singular golden orb that serves as his eyes. When he sleeps the light will dim and go out, which causes Bones to rest as if he was no more than a pile of bones.

Some thin strands of hair hang from the end of his tailbone, though his tail is nothing to write home about. Stringy and prone to breaking, the strands seem to glow with the same light as he does during the night. A few golden chains hang from his neck, hooked around pointed parts of his neck. Obsidian charms dangle from them, though they seem to serve no purpose and he frequently loses them. Strapped around his spine behind his ribs is an hourglass that never seems to run out of sand. Like the hourglass, Bones leaks sand from his rib cage. Sometimes it's no more than a few specks of sand and other times it's a torrent that would rival a waterfall. If one needs to find him, the easiest way is to follow the sand.

What was once a skeleton has been made whole again. Bones' has the appearance of a heavy warmblood. His face is blocky with expressive blue eyes. His face is often accented with pale warpaint in the shape of a skull. Occasionally he will have various other bones painted across his body as a nod to his former skeletal self. Sprouting from behind his ears is a set of horns taken directly from the ribs of his former mammoth companions. They are lined with black candles that are alight with blue flames. His forelock is pale while his mane and tail are a slightly darker blue than his eyes. His back is lined in small bones that lead down to his skeletal prehensile tail. Bones' front left leg is coated in a layer of bones, often manipulated with his arcana. His mouth is lined with mismatched teeth, both equine and otherwise.

Now that he is a man of flesh, Bones has had to learn to use his expressions. Often his eyes are a bit too expressive-- a bit too wide or a bit too narrowed. Though time will teach him to better use his new body. Despite the differences, he is the same Bones. Still learning, still improving.

Bones is...an odd duck. It can be assumed that some of his basic personality was inherited somehow from his creator. Though he never met said creator, therefore not knowing he's dead, it's easy to see how it would influence him. Bones is rather dense when it comes to picking up on social cues. Humor, especially sarcasm, are lost on him. With no brain to speak of, he relies solely on what he's hearing and seeing. (Despite not having ears or eyes.) He takes everything at face value and sees no reason for anyone to lie to him.

Bones has a few odd quirks, as well. He tends to speak entirely in rhymes, occasionally offering a riddle or two. He has a desire to join in most conversations and is known to insert himself by speaking or merely rattling his jaw in the direction of someone he wishes to speak to. He seems to flip between non-stop chatter mouth and man of very few words rather effortlessly. He does not have mood swings the way living horses do, but will occasionally feel symptoms of 'sadness' or 'happiness' and act in a way he has picked up from watching others.

One thing he actual does find himself becoming annoyed with is breathing. Though he is unable to make the connection that breathing equals living, he gets easily irritated when others breathe on him. Bones thinks he's alive. Perhaps it is some unconscious wall put up to prevent him from thinking too hard about the fact that he doesn't breathe-- but it bothers him.

What Bones made of his life before he was raised is a mystery. Not even the skeleton himself knows what happened during his first life. His "life" began the moment he was raised. An elderly necromancer by the name of Jorrik knew his time had come. He searched high and low for a sufficient specimen that had not yet begun to rot-- however he could find none. He stumbled across the scattered bones of a stallion long deceased and did what he had come to do. Using what was left of his essence, Jorrik closed his eyes and began to chant. The bones found each other, stitched together by some unseen force. Jorrik imbued the walking skeleton with the last of his essence.

And as the light faded from Jorrik's eyes, a singular light formed within the empty cavern of Bones' head. It glimmered, illuminating his eye sockets and bringing life to what was once dead. Though not truly alive, Bones was more than he had been before. While he was not truly alive, nor was Bones a dead thing. He was no longer discarded, bones left to bleach in the sun. Long since picked clean by scavengers, Bones was exactly as his name described. Bones. Though he had no memory and no true self, Bones would travel through the world as best he could.

' . . . '

Like his creator, Bones is a Necromancer. That makes him skilled in uses bones and corpses to his advantage. Whether it's using them as missiles or raising an army of undead to serve him. While in his magic's infancy his powers will not be too impressive and will take a lot out of him, though as his skill grows so does his confidence and ability to perform more advanced arcana without tiring.

In the early stages of his arcana, Bones will be rather limited. He will only be able to raise the undead that have been dead for a short amount of time. If they have begun to decay too much they will be beyond his ability. He can however pull bones from the earth, though they will be nothing more than small projectiles he can launch as a weapon.

Once reaching the rank of adept, Bones can now raise creatures that have been dead for a significant amount of time. They cannot be completely decomposed down to their bones. His bone summoning has become more proficient and he can use it to create shields and walls-- or even just summon spikes of bones from the ground to impale. He can also pull those bones around himself or others to create armor.

He can now raise creatures of any age to aid him, no matter how long they have been dead. The bones he can pull from the earth are now much larger and stronger, able to create large constructs and animate them to his will. His bone walls and shields are now much stronger, able to corral large opponents and protect him as well.

004 - LOCKED
Bones is now an exceptionally talented necromancer! He can raise any dead body he comes across and even keep them "alive" for as long as he so wishes, as they will be tied to his will until he dismisses them. His bone summoning is exceedingly powerful now and near unbreakable without the aid of some equally strong arcana. He can now create massive creatures, larger than the smaller constructs, of bone that will listen to his will and his alone.
